Opportunities:
Spirituality
BEREAVEMENT GROUP
This ministry is dedicated
to comforting members of our Parish family that are mourning the loss of a
loved one by being present to them and offering support during their time
of grief. Training is provided.
BIBLE STUDY
Bible Study is offered in
the fall and spring for adults interested in pursuing a deeper
understanding of Scripture. See church bulletin for current offerings.
EUCHARISTIC ADORATION
Eucharistic Adoration is an
opportunity to spend some quiet time with Jesus in the Eucharist.
Currently adoration is in the Chapel of Mercy on the first floor of the
Parish Center on Tuesdays from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm. Additional effort of
volunteers may be necessary to nurture and expand the availability of the
adoration time.
MINISTERS OF CARE
Bring the Church to those
who are no longer able to attend Mass. Volunteers visit and extend helping
hands and listening ears in friendship and prayer to our elderly and
infirm parishioners who are homebound. Trained and committed men and women
share the Word of God and bring the Holy Eucharist to the homebound
members of our parish.
MORNING PRAYER GROUP
This group meets on
Tuesdays at 7:15 am for daily Mass. Prior to the Mass, they pray the
rosary. Following the Mass, they participate in the devotion to Our Lady
of Perpetual Help. New participants are welcome.
RCIA
Adults desiring to complete
their sacraments or to enter the Catholic Church enter the process called
the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA). This Tri-Parish process
lasts approximately nine months and culminates at the Easter Vigil.
Volunteers are always needed as catechists and sponsors. Catechists lead
small group discussions and present on topics relevant to the faith and
from their own experience. Sponsors work one-on-one with candidates
preparing to receive the Sacraments and become spiritual companions. Any
person wanting to learn more about the Catholic Faith or to join our
Catholic community should call Sr. Sandra at the Office Center (257-2414
x225).
RETREATS & DAYS OF
RECOLLECTION
The Lemont Catholic
Community offers opportunities to come together for an evening, a day, or
a weekend to rejuvenate the spiritual life. These day and weekend retreats
or days/evenings of recollection offer you the chance to reconnect with
God and hopefully grow in your relationship with Him. They provide a
chance to grow in faith and prayer while experiencing Christian community.
These retreats/days of
recollection are held at various times of the year for different groups of
people. Scripture, prayer/spirituality, and Christian living are common
themes. Please watch the bulletin for details. Volunteers are needed to
help for leadership roles and/or hospitality.
THEOLOGY ON TAP
Theology on Tap is a
program sponsored by the Archdiocese of Chicago's Young Adult Ministry
Office. It is a four-week summer speaker and conversation series. Catholic
parishes host speakers and invite young adults in their 20s and 30s from
the area to attend informational discussions focusing on faith,
relationships, and work. These sessions provide young adults with
opportunities to meet others their age with similar values - and to become
updated on what it means to be a Catholic as an adult. The Lemont Catholic
Parishes rotate hosting Theology on Tap. |
